Companion Care (Salford) Ltd is a Companion Care practice based inside a Pets at Home store, set up as a modern, well‑equipped clinic with an in‑house lab and pharmacy plus digital X‑ray and ultrasound. The website also lists an operating theatre, hospital ward and isolation unit, suggesting it can manage both routine appointments and more involved cases.
In recent reviews, owners describe both strong clinical support (including a pyometra case and detailed medication reminders) and inconsistent communication at other times—particularly around test results and how “worst‑case” possibilities are explained. Multiple reviewers specifically single out reception/aftercare staff for keeping them informed during delays and for follow‑up support.

Lovely staff who are quick to respond and eager to help. Eevee and Graham are lovely to speak to and all of the vets that we have encountered have been friendly, professional and great with our cat.

This is for the reception staffs snd the vet - Manasa who have helped us tonight. There was a delay at first due to a pet being put to sleep, however the staffs made sure they informed us of the situation and even offered us drinks while we waited. This is already beyond being “proactive”. The vet - Manasa, she is the best vet we have ever seen in the UK. Very knowledgeable, quick in diagnosis, keep us well informed with the situation and reminded us on the medication. We were well advised and Manasa have gone above and beyond with our situation. If management is seeing this, the receptionist and the vet truly deserve shoutouts.

I understand that vets have to rule out worst-case scenarios, but I’ve now had two upsetting experiences here that left me feeling more frightened and pressured than reassured. The first was with my cat, Agnes. I was warned she could have cancer and advised to pursue testing for clarity. We spent over £400 on medication and treatment, only to be told two weeks later there were no results. In the end, the only thing that resolved her skin condition was simply wearing a cone. More recently, after my dog Humphrey’s neutering, I was told he might have a blockage because he vomited after the procedure. Instead of explaining what the genuine symptoms of a blockage would look like versus normal post-anaesthetic sickness, I was advised to take him to an out-of-hours emergency vet and spend even more money. I spent the entire night panicking, preparing myself for the worst. In reality, he was simply nauseous from anaesthesia and by the next morning he was completely back to his normal self. I know worst-case scenarios need to be mentioned, but the way these situations were presented felt more like fear-mongering than balanced communication. Owners need clear explanations of what is likely and what would actually warrant emergency care, not immediate pressure to spend hundreds more pounds at an emergency clinic when the far more probable cause was something routine. Both times this has happened with the same vet, and I have since seen other reviews raising similar concerns. This practice would really benefit from more transparent, supportive communication so clients feel guided and reassured, rather than left frightened, exhausted, and financially drained. The receptionists are great though:)

The receptionists are more compassionate and friendly than the vets. Unfortunately, the vets have a poor bedside manner and are not particularly warm towards the animals. They seem to have limited understanding of animal behaviour and psychology. I took my dog there four times, and each experience was very poor, it left my dog extremely stressed and he is a very friendly and confident dog! he loved his previous vet!

Came back from the vets and for probably the first time in my life I did not cry at any point! I am deeply mistrusting and sensitive and worry about my cats so so much so for the vet to keep me that calm the entire appointment, that is a woman with the natural given gift of a healer! Such lovely vets, all the staff are lovely and my man hating cat even liked the male training so just such a lovely place to bring your pets to. Especially for someone like me with vet trauma and highly strung emotions!

The 1 star is for the reception staff who are lovely and extremely helpful. Especially Graham who could not be better at his job. The clinical staff get zero. However, absolutely horrible experience. My poor little cat is sat on me right now crying her eyes out in pain. I took her to this terrible vet 3 days ago who charged me over £400 for blood tests and told me they’d be in contact the following day with the results. They didn’t. I had to call to get them off another vet there and was told she might have ‘this’ she might have ‘that’ of which I knew she can’t due to her history. They know the pains around her back but did nothing to help. Tried charging for more blood tests at another £400, and then £118 for an emergency appointment if I needed to bring her back. DO NOT go near them. I’m reporting them to the Royal College Of Veterinary Surgeons. They’ve shaved her neck to take the blood from and it looks awful. Taken off at least a 4’ x 2’ area. I’m so upset right now. Please please never use them. I am now waiting for another vet to open to see if I can take my little one there. I’m just praying they can see her. If you want to know that your poorly pets problem ‘might be this or might be that’ indefinitely and leave your pet in pain, then treat yourself to this vets. Your pet’s health will deteriorate whilst their bank balance gets much better. Last time my cat had an illness, they were OK, but this time is inexcusable. I wish I didn’t have to write this.
